Biography
Tony Maynard began his career in Training and Development in 1991, delivering experimental learning based programmes to organisations for the purposes of building teams and developing leadership and team skills for its empoyees. These programmes were conference based and a strong emphasis on effective facilitation and relevance to real work challenges was required in order to provide meaning and practical application for the participant.
After three years of this Tony decided to further his career by seeking development of his skills in conducting learning and development workshops. It was at this time, in 1993, that he joined Corporate Vision, a leading Sydney based "Change Management" consultancy, where for three years he worked in the development and delivery of a range of workshops for the purpose of:
- Team Building / Teaming Skills
- Leadership Development
- Conflict Resolution
- Train the Trainer
- Communication Skills
Some of his career highlights at this time were: Developing a Centre of Excellence for experiental based learning programmes / Conducting a series of Teaming Workshop to management for a multinational pharmaceutical and food manufacturer that was then taken on by the Human Resource department and handed over via a Train the Trainer Programmes to middle and senior management groups within a range of organisations in Australia, the UK (Ireland and Scotland) and Kuwait.
Since 1997 Tony has been working as a Training and Development Consultant with his own company and implementing training solutions to a wide range of organisations. His ability to build rapport and gain trust with a group is outstanding. Combining this with "Creative Training" and current adult learning techniques allows the training outcomes to be achieved in the quickest possible time.
In 2006 Tony and his family spent a year volunteering in India and East Africa on behalf of Operation Eyesight Universal, a Canadian Development organisation that sponsors blindess prevention initiatives. He worked as a team and leadership facilitator for senior management teams responsible for effective delivery of eye care services.
Tony's passion for his material and work is infectious. He is completely committed to providing people with greater choice in the way in which they lead others and their own lives. The learning experience he provides for the participant will be meaningful, relevant and memorable.

Testimonials
Tony has been working with Operation Eyesight for more than three years, focusing on leadership development and team building with our hospital partners in African Countries. He has worked with individual hospital teams and large group workshop. It has been amazing to see the transformation in this group of partners, as Tony developed their capacity to see themselves as leaders and assume responsibility for the strategic direction of their hospitals. Tony provides good theory mixed with practical examples and exercises to engage participants in the learning experience. Even at the end of a four day workshop the participants remained enthusiastic and engaged in the experience. Evaluation feedback was extremely positive with participants hungry for more. Operation Eyesight would highly recommend Tony as facilitator in leadership development and team building.

Tony did an outstanding job. Having done the workshop with the senior team, and then having gone through it with my own people, I thoroughly enjoyed it the second time and like when you watch a great movie more than once, learnt even more from it.
Tony did an exceptional job.

One of the greatest needs in Sub Saharan Africa is that of ophthalmologists in increasing numbers, technically trained at the highest level possible, but also effective leaders of eye care teams, good managers of the limited resources made available to them, excellent communicators, etc. Unfortunately, it is in this latter area of soft skills development that current training of ophthalmologists is still most deficient. Which explains the high priority accorded it by both WHO and ICO, in their support for Human Resource Development for Africa. Which explains the unique contribution of people like Tony Maynard in that regard.
I have known Tony for the past 4 years, mainly through "leadership training" workshops by ICO, WHO or its partner NGOs, but also through the feedback of many who have taken part in these workshops.
Tony is not just a very resourceful trainer, he is also a great motivator of both groups and individuals. A remarkable achievement for someone who until 2005, had never worked in Africa or with Africans before.
Without doubt one of Tony's greatest abilities as a trainer lies in his extraordinary ability to quickly "read and assess" his audience, and adjust his training accordingly.
We look forward to an closer collaboration with Tony in the future.

It was indeed a privilege to attend the "Leadership and Change" programme.
The course highlighted serious and effective concepts relating mainly to management, communication, team building and interpersonal relationship. It exposed us to various techniques and gave us an understanding of our strengths and weaknesses as a leader and natural management style.
Tony was excellent in conveying and convincing the ideas and the techniques. The contests and the materials would always serve as a ready references to fine tune the techniques. The best part of the course was that the ideas would not only enhance our leadership quality in the professional life but also in our personal life.
We therefore would like to sincerely thank the management for organizing such a course, which will definitely contribute in enhancing our leadership qualities and management techniques, leading to further quality growth of our organization.

There is no question Tony has been a significant factor in the success of the course and, just to underline my view, I had one participant phone me to tell me how highly Tony's contribution was rated.

Tony Maynard has worked with me and my team for the past four years for the purposes of enhancing team performance and improving individuals’ leadership skills. He was highly professional at all times, and managed to add value with each engagement, which at times was not easy as the team was already highly functional. I was particularly appreciative of Tony’s honest and pragmatic approach, which helped my leadership, as well as the teams.
I would strongly recommend Tony for any of your Team or Leadership Development needs.

Wednesday was great! I felt engaged the whole time and really enjoyed the manner in which it was presented.
You have a genuine and warm manner which puts participants at ease and lets us all proceed with the exercise.
Thanks again.

Again, Reckitt Benckiser have put together a course which is moving towards developing the organization which can really make a difference.
The purpose of this mail is to outline the first "natural" presentation I have seen in the past 18 months. Unfortunately too many people equate effective presentations with robotic presentations. Tony yesterday presented with such a natural approach, I felt obliged to pass on the appreciation.
John Davis
From the outset, Tony successfully connected with the group by creating a safe but highly motivated environment where participants were willing to contribute in open discussion without the usual awkward silence. Tony’s vision, creative ideas for interactive activities and ability to weave a strong narrative across the sessions also helped make the program relevant and meaningful for participants. Participant feedback has been nothing but overwhelming praise for Tony’s style and manner. We would highly recommend Tony as a facilitator
